“Actors of all ages need the craft. My classes are designed to help the young actor build that foundation, find their truth as a performer, and discover their unique voice.” – Ryan Kessler
We are proud to offer this Acting Classes for teen actors who have a strong desire learn the craft of acting. The class will use the methods and techniques Penny Templeton has developed over her 20 years of professional experience as a teacher and coach. Penny has handpicked Master Actor Ryan Kessler to teach this new innovative class.
The goal of this class is for these young actors to develop a strong sense of self-confidence in their performing abilities as they learn who they are and what makes them unique. This will be accomplished through Penny Templeton’s breakthrough acting exercises inspired by the gifts of the great master teachers (Stanislavsky, Adler, Strasberg, Meisner and Uta Hagen) and designed to bring out the best in each actor. Each class will also develop the actors’ performance and audition skills through scene study, monologues and on-camera work. Classes will be limited to a maximum of 10 actors to assure personal attention.

Our Teen Actor Justin Myrick plays the important role of ARTHUR in KNUCKLEHEAD starring Alfre Woodard and Amari Cheatom.
“ The supporting cast includes Amari Cheatom (Django Unchained), who plays his street-hustler brother, Julian; and young, up-and-coming actor Justin Myrick, who plays Art, a wisecracking sidekick who is much younger but wiser than Langston.” THE ROOT – ” One of the kids, Justin S. Myrick‘s Arthur, has a smartass spark that animates scenes and balances the bleak situation at home.” HOLLYWOOD REPORTER
“The teen acting classes at the Penny Templeton Studio are an incredible experience. Ryan Kessler teaches the class, and I took something away from it every single week! Ryan is such a relatable human being and a great teacher. He truly made me feel comfortable and welcome each session. Penny’s approach to acting was far deeper than most I had explored, and after a few months of taking classes with Ryan I started receiving a lot of positive feedback from casting directors and agents. All in all, this class is amazing. It’s affordable, and helped me get to the next level in my acting career.” Madison, age 18
“The teen classes have been such an amazing education and experience for me. The techniques Ryan teaches have helped me become a well-rounded actress. Through these techniques I’ve learned to tap into my emotions. It is unbelievable. I even cried once; it shocked me, because I didn’t know it was possible. That goes to show how informative and important this class is. I get to learn how to become a great actress, not only by a great actor himself, but also by other teen actors. I cannot wait to be back with my family at the Penny Templeton Studios.” Sabornee, age 16

The Advanced class is for young performers ages 13-18 who have taken the beginning class, coached at the studio, or have previous training. The goal of this class is to help actors learn to shift between theater, film and TV, and auditions. It is a hands on, practical and professional class designed for the young performer who is thinking about a career as an actor.
Each class is broken into two separate parts designed to help the young actor find their voice as a performer. In the first part students work on an exercise called the Acting Barre, a series of exercises developed to stretch and strengthen the acting muscles (from opening up the emotional life to recreating a real life person as a character). The second part involves scene study. Students are given either a theater or film scene to work on for the month. The scene is blocked, rehearsed and performed under the guidance and direction of Ryan Kessler.
For the audition class students will learn how to prepare both cold reads and short scenes ahead of time.
It is suggested that actors commit to all three months of the Advanced Class for their own growth and benefit as artists.
Requirements for enrollment:
