Curriculum
The class size is limited to allow every actor in class a chance to get up on stage for exercises and scenes.
This is an Acting class not a watching class.
BLOCK 1: An Overview of the Craft of Acting: the fundamental techniques necessary to master the craft of acting. This week 1 class runs an extra hour (10pm) to cover all the material.
BLOCK 2 (2 weeks): Learning how to structure scenes. The Structure: Core, Happiness, Driving Question, Actions and Tactics
BLOCK 3 (2 weeks): Week 1 – Adding Emotions: As the actor’s grasp and learn to use the elements of the structure we will add in short monologues to develop the concepts used to create the emotional life of the character using Substitutions. to create using short monologues. Week 2 – Putting it All Together: Applying both Structure and Substitutions to learn and perform a scene.

The scene is performed twice:

Take one: The actor Ryan Kessler, playing the Lawyer bases all of his choices (Driving Question, Actions and Tactics) on the core of Respect found on page 97.

Take two: Ryan’s choices are based on the core of Power found on page 98.
