Penny and I went to see a new show, HARMONY on Sunday. This is absolutely one of the very best shows either of us have ever seen. Harmony is a new musical by Barry Manilow & Bruce Sussman. They are magnificent! Although it is in a 299-seat theater, you will be treated to a full-scale Broadway Show, with a large cast, an orchestra and Tony award worthy sets, costumes, lighting, sound design, and multi-media graphics.
Preview tickets are available for as little as $29.
It is a small theater so there are no bad seats. You must act very quickly because the show has great word-of-mouth and Previews end April 13th. It officially opens on April 14th. At the National Yiddish Theater Folksbiene, in the Museum of Jewish Heritage – 36 Battery Place New York City. After the show officially opens on April 14th, the tickets will be $99-$126
Harmony tells the true story of the Comedian Harmonists, an ensemble of six talented young men in 1920s Germany who took the world by storm with their signature blend of sophisticated close harmonies and uproarious stage antics, until their inclusion of Jewish singers put them on a collision course with history. It is musical drama with great humor, great score, and great acting, that grabs you by the heart, and never lets go. The cast led by the incomparable Chip Zein, in a tour-de-force performance, are extraordinarily excellent. W can’t recommend highly enough, if you like great theatre & great acting!
FYI: We went to see it because our Acting Lion plays the iconic singer Josephine Baker. Some of you might remember her from her closing monologue in PANDEMIC ANTHOLOGY. She is definitely included when we say the show has great acting.
